Notice and takedown

Last updated 18 September 2026.

How to get something taken off Flaredbase: illegal content, an image you hold the rights to, or anything else that shouldn't be here.

This is our notice-and-action mechanism under the EU Digital Services Act. Anyone can use it. You do not need an account, and you do not need to make one.

How to report

Two routes, one queue. Both land in the same place and are handled the same way.

  • The report link next to an entry, an image, a review or a profile. It opens the report form, which is the quickest route because it already knows what you are reporting.
  • Email abuse@flaredbase.app. Use this if you would rather write in your own words, or if what you are reporting isn't a single page.

What to include

  • The address of the page, and which thing on it you mean.
  • What is wrong with it, in your own words. If you say it is illegal, say roughly why, and under which country's law if you know.
  • If it is your work: what the work is, where it can be seen, and that you hold the rights or act for whoever does.
  • An address we can answer. You may report anonymously, and we will still act on it, but then we cannot tell you what we did.
  • A line saying you believe in good faith that what you have told us is accurate and complete.

Don't paste the content you are reporting into the message if you can point at it instead. We clear the detail of a report as soon as it is resolved, so the less it quotes, the less there is to clear.

What happens next

  • One person reads every report, and acts on it without undue delay. On a site this size that means days rather than hours.
  • We decide, and we act: leave it, hide it, remove it, or close the account. A contested image comes down first and gets discussed afterwards. Nothing here is worth a fight.
  • The member whose content it is gets told why, on the content itself, because the site sends no notifications.
  • We answer you at the address you gave, telling you what we decided.
  • We then clear the detail and your contact details from the report. The record that a report existed is kept for 90 days and then deleted.

A report that is plainly false, or sent to harass someone, wastes the one pair of hands here. Sending them repeatedly gets you ignored.

If what you have found is a crime in progress, or involves a child, tell the police as well as us. They can act in ways we cannot.

Images and copyright

Most product images on the site are our own small copies of the preview image a shop publishes for its product page. We re-encode them, strip their metadata, credit the shop and claim no ownership, and we do it so that looking at a product page never makes a visitor's browser ask a shop for anything.

If you hold the rights to one and want it gone, say so and it goes. We will not argue about it, and we will not ask you to prove anything first.

Photos uploaded by members belong to the member who took them. If one of yours has been posted by someone else, report it the same way.

If you send DMCA notices

Flaredbase is run from the EU and hosted in the EU, so the DMCA does not apply to it and there is no registered agent. If that is the form you work in, send it anyway to abuse@flaredbase.app and it will be handled like any other notice, under the procedure above. A DMCA-shaped notice usually carries:

  • Your name, address and email, or those of whoever you act for.
  • What the copyrighted work is.
  • Where the material you want removed is, as a link.
  • That you believe in good faith the use is not authorised.
  • That the information is accurate and that you are authorised to act for the rightsholder.
  • Your signature. A typed name is enough.

None of that is required here. A plain email naming the image and the right you hold is enough.

If we got it wrong

If we removed something of yours and you think that was a mistake, reply to the same address, or write to abuse@flaredbase.app. There is no form and no appeals process: every notice is read and answered by hand.

What happens to the personal data in a report is on the privacy page, and who you are dealing with is on the legal page.
