Terms of use

Last updated 18 September 2026.

Flaredbase is a community catalogue for toys. These are the rules for using it. They are short because the site is small.

For adults only

The site is for adults. You confirm you are 18 or over when you make an account, and by using the site you confirm it again. We don't store that confirmation: an account can't exist without it.

There is no age check beyond your word, because the site sells nothing, shows no explicit imagery and is a product database. If we find out an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it.

Your account

One person, one account. Your username is public and everything else about your account is yours to make public, item by item. Keep your password somewhere safe, and your email working: a forgotten password can only be reset through it, and without it nobody can get your account back, including us.

Don't use an account to pretend to be someone else, and don't pick a username that ties you to another site unless you mean to.

What you can post

Write about toys as plainly as you like. Blunt is fine, useful is better. What we ask of every review, note, photo and catalogue entry:

  • No explicit imagery. A photo of a toy on its own, in your hand, or beside a ruler or a coin, is what the site is for. A hand or forearm holding the toy is fine. Nothing else of a person: no face, no bare skin anywhere else, no nudity. Photos show straight away, anyone can report one, and a photo reported by two members is hidden until an admin has looked. We take down what breaks these rules.
  • Nothing illegal, and nothing involving anyone under 18. This has no exceptions and no second chance.
  • Nothing that identifies another person: no names, no contact details, no photos of someone who hasn't asked to be there.
  • Only your own work. Don't paste someone else's review, photos or measurements and present them as yours.
  • No advertising, no spam, no affiliate or referral links. Shop links are welcome as links to the product; we strip the tracking off them.
  • Write about the toy, not about each other. Reviews are your own experience, not a verdict on anyone else's.

Catalogue entries are facts: name, brand, materials, measurements, the shops that sell it. Put in what you know and leave the rest unknown. A gap in the data is better than a guess in it.

Your photos and words

Your photos stay yours. You keep the copyright in every photo you upload, and we claim none of it. You give us permission to store it, resize it, strip its metadata and show it on the site where you posted it, beside your review or on your drawer, for as long as it is there.

That permission ends when you delete the photo, the review or your account. Encrypted backups can hold a copy for up to 30 days after that. We don't sell photos, don't pass them to anyone else and don't use them to advertise anything.

The same goes for what you write: your reviews and notes stay yours, and we show them on the site while they are there and not after.

The catalogue

A catalogue entry is a set of shared facts about a product. Facts belong to nobody, so entries work differently from the things that are yours. Entries, edits, shop links, tag requests and reports you send us stay on the site when you delete your account, with nothing left linking them to you. Your drawer, your reviews and your photos go with you.

Product images from shops are not ours either. We keep our own small copy, credit the shop, claim no ownership and take any of them down on request. See the takedown page.

Moderation

We can hide a review, reject a photo, edit or remove a catalogue entry, or close an account that breaks these rules. When we hide a review or reject a photo, the reason is stored with it and shown to whoever posted it. The site sends no notifications, so the content itself is the only place you would ever see why.

If you think we got it wrong, write to abuse@flaredbase.app. Moderation here is done by hand, so expect a plain answer from a person rather than a process.

Leaving

You can delete your account at any time, from settings, in one step. It happens straight away and cannot be undone. What goes and what stays is set out on the privacy page.

What we don't promise

Flaredbase is a side project, free to use, run in someone's spare time. It comes as it is. We don't promise that it will be available, that it will keep any of your data forever, or that it will still be here next year. If it closes on purpose, we will say so on the site first, though a server that simply dies cannot announce anything.

Almost everything in the catalogue is written by members, from shop and manufacturer copy that is often wrong. Measurements, materials and specifications can be mistaken. The material classes describe what a material is, not whether a toy is right for you, and nothing on this site is medical advice. Check anything that matters with the manufacturer.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that comes from using the site or from relying on what is in it. Nothing here takes away rights you have under the law of the country you live in, and some of those cannot be signed away.

Which law applies

Dutch law applies to these terms and to any dispute about them, and the courts of the Netherlands can hear it. If you use the site as a consumer elsewhere in the EU, this does not take away the protection of the law where you live, or your right to go to a court there.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the date under the title changes with them. Carrying on using the site means the new version applies. If you would rather not, delete your account: it takes one step.
